Dear CCSO Members,
As we reflect back on the changes made in 2018, I can proudly say it was a good year for the California Correctional Supervisors Organization (CCSO). I want to thank all of you for your continued support and loyalty to our organization. There were many changes to labor unions this past year, and our organization was fortunate to have an increase in membership of 17%. This shows we have a strong reputation of protecting our members.
Our staff here at CCSO have put a tremendous amount of work into improving our services provided to you. We looked at all aspects of our organization, with an eye on improving areas such as staffing, product development, infrastructure, and marketing.
CCSO has accomplished a great deal over the past 12 months and had many memorable events. This past year our chapter presidents gathered in Anaheim and Long Beach for our annual conference and workshop. This gave them an opportunity to discuss current issues, provide feedback, and listen to my vision for the future of CCSO.
We had a record turnout for the dues increase vote. Over 1300 members voted which is the most participation we have ever had! That is a huge accomplishment and I am so pleased that more members are continuing to get involved and have their voice heard. I would like to thank those who spread the word of the importance of the dues increase and the value it has to our organization and to our strong legal defense.
As we move forward in 2019, I’m excited to share the many projects we have in the works. The inaugural Supervising Registered Nurse II seminar took take place in Sacramento on February 9, 2019. Our new benefits packages will be available to members. The supplemental plans are for hospitalization, accident, and critical care insurance, and help to offset out of pocket expenses. A brand new redesigned website is coming in the summer and will enhance our communication capabilities.
I truly believe in all of the changes CCSO has made and strive to continue to improve in order to better ourselves as an organization. We are more in touch with our members than ever before and our marketing efforts are a huge reason for our success. We plan to organize and participate in more marketing events to get our name out there as an organization. We must continue to show how strong we are and what we do for our members and our communities.
It has been a huge honor to be your president over the past year. I am fully committed to serving our members and bringing CCSO to the next level as a major organization.
As we look to the future, we are anticipating another year of growth, change, and evolution to move CCSO forward. Here at CCSO we are committed to working hard to provide you the best service.
